The National Health Council will hold, on February 7, in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), the Seminar Participation in Health – The Experience of National Health Councils, aiming to debate, with national and international experts, strategies and actions to better promote and mobilize participation of citizens in the definition of health policies in Portugal.
The seminar will provide an international overview of citizen participation with experts from World Health Organization – European Region, do European AIDS Treatment Group and European Patients’ Forum.
The experience of other health councils, or similar bodies, such as the National Health Council of Brazil, Healthwatch England (UK), and the Regional Advisory Committee for the Quality of Services of Emilia-Romagna region (Italy).
Citizen participation is currently a recurring theme in national agendas and legislation framing health systems in several European countries.
Created in 2016, the National Health Council has the mission to promote participation of several scientific, social, cultural and economic stakeholders in building broad consensus on health policy.
